“rhubarb’s” efforts for charity are being taken a whole 600km further this month as our very own Lucy Gemmell does her bit for Sport Relief.
On 12th February Lawrence Dallaglio and a group of his celebrity friends – including our esteemed Founder and Creative Director – are cycling (yes, on push bikes!) to all of the Six Nations rugby stadia.
The route is long and gruelling, taking the riders all the way from Northern Italy to Scotland, via France, England, Wales and Ireland. Each of the five stages takes between four and six days - that’s a staggering 24 days in the saddle and over 2,800 kilometres in total. Starting in Rome and then moving on to Paris, Twickenham, Cardiff, Dublin and Edinburgh, the Cycle Slam will take place over one month and aims to raise £1 million for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation.
The core team members will cycle every last kilometre with Lawrence, but Lucy will be taking part in the team stage part of the event, cycling Stage 5, from Rosslare to Edinburgh, a grand total of 549 Km. Lucy said: “I have done everything in my power to persuade Lawrence to let me go in a side car with a canapé tray but I’m not getting very far…Seriously though, having met Lawrence very recently, and discovered both he and I share the loss of our mothers to Cancer, I am absolutely delighted to be involved in raising money for The Dallaglio Foundation and its superb causes.” To find out more about the charity and the Cycle Slam event, and of course to sponsor Lucy, visit http://www.dallagliocycleslam.com.
